I use command line compilation in certain situations but when the target has a very good IDE, why should I waste time doing it that way? It's too much typing.
The one place I interviewed at seemed to expect me to set breakpoints on the command line- Who's got time for that? Just click on the line of code in the IDE and hit Debug and off you go...

This kind of pedanticism is what FUCKS ME OFF about the whole IT/engineering scene in South Africa
You want to work your way, that's fine, let the rest of us make money!!

The purity of writing in assembler is amazing, but alas it's been 20 years.
Purity is one thing, having to try and do math functions in ASM... nope, just nope. And also I am one of the people who worked on a large project in ASM and failed because I lost track of what I am doing eventually. In C I simply have a different mindset and I get much better code done.

The fire above Boyes Drive in Pecks Valley has been contained in the early hours of this morning, but there are still hot spots requiring attention.

Not a very good profession as I've said before.
When my housemate was a journalist your work would get checked by a copy/sub editor and the editor before publication.

Now it’s juniors publishing with no checking. I see typos and grammer mistakes all the time. It’s like spelling and grammer checkers don’t exist.

Got these on the weekend
I'd like to think that all my ranting and attempt to become the licensee before lockdown, paid off and this stuff finally made it's way to South Africa. I didn't have to buy these on Amazon and pay import duties and shipping as I have done in the past. R229 each is way easier on the wallet than R800 per each

All I know of the profession is that it's a load of malarkey and I view journos in the same way as I view bergies. My view has been influenced and formed by others but also by MyBroadband and other local news sites being click bait peddlers to the extent they've become.

Some journalists take their craft very seriously.
