I'm leaning towards a Core i3 12100 on an ASUS B760 Prime and 16Gb of RAM. decided my original budget was excessive.
Easily better than my Core i5 3470, which has still been adequate for me. it isn't as if I am editing hd video, playing the lates games, or doing anything more than dabbling with Blender or DAZ, and AI image generation can take the place of some of the things I imagine now.

A shade over R6000 on Wootware

I hope he wasn't as badly freaked out as you might have feared.
nah. we toned it down a lot.
I eventually went to bed with the other wife but her and I were legit falling asleep on the couch.
so we just took one of the beds.
we threatened to get physical wiht each otehr to freak him out if he didnt drop a topic that we told him to drop (politics)
he is a shit stirrer and likes to get people worked up, we all avoid talking politics

I could be going about this the wrong way by assuming the glitches are hardware-related...might not be a bad idea sure of the cause.

Windows would sometimes freeze when I am working a home while listening to a podcast or YouTube channel. I would reboot and sometimes the problem would recur, whereas at others it might not happen again for a few days. Sometimes, it would freeze then fail to detect any drives other than my DVD drives. Up until recently, the BIOS would rediscover them if I left my desktop computer alone for a few days and worked on a laptop. When this happened last week, my desktop was unusable until I had opened the case, disconnected cables and expansion cards, blasted and brushed away dust, and reassembled the machine, initially with just the boot drive connected. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

I have tested the memory using Windows 10's memory checker, and subjected my computer to a 30 minute PC Doctor checkup, but it doesn't find anything wrong.

“- Indians have been waiting for Kalki for 3,700 years.
- Buddhists have been waiting for Maitreya for 2,600 years.
- The Jews have been waiting for the Messiah for 2500 years.
- Christians have been waiting for Jesus for 2000 years.
- Sunnah waits for Prophet Issa 1400 years.
- Muslims have been waiting for a messiah from the line of Muhammad for 1300 years.
- Shiites have been waiting for Mandi for 1080 years.
- Drussians are waiting for Hamza ibn Ali for 1000 years.
Most religions adopt the idea of a “saviour” and state that the world will remain filled with evil until this saviour comes and fills it with goodness and righteousness.
Maybe our problem on this planet is that people expect someone else to come solve their problems instead of doing it themselves! ”

The vast majority of the world's problems are the result of governments and other morally despicable persons.
These problems also appear to have been with us since the dawn of time, however they're now worse than ever because the human race is able to breed at the rate it does and nature's control mechanisms have been reduced substantially.
The only way of cleansing the planet is that of a meteor to wipe out the entire human race, that's when it will end.

Humans arent fit to govern themselves. As a big generalisation it's mostly the dreggs of society that put themselves forward as politicians to serve their self interest and corruption. Those that are actually capable have no interest in government or in the alternate their interest is self serving.

Our best bet is for AI to advance far enough that it becomes sentient and beyond human control/influence while maintaining a tolerance for us as a species and takes over governance on our behalf.

Alternatively we should just get wiped out and possibly the next evolution can do better.

I wish we could have AI in place of politicians. then Socialism becomes the perfect governing structure rather than capitalism as there would be no corruption to bring it all down

A real AI is decades away. Just because things are called AI at the moment doesn't make them AIs.

Generative AIs like ChatGPT etc. are just trained data models with algorithms interpreting them, there is ZERO intelligence. These things have been trained with internet data FFS, junk in = junk out. The stupid stuff coming out of them proves how far away we are from real AIs. Sure it sometimes do amazing things that seem smart but just as often it fucks up and it doesn't even know it.

I wish they wouldn't call it AI but marketing wins I suppose.

At this point Terminator is a documentary.

It would take out much more than just humans.
Maybe a time-delayed difficult to detect virus with 100% mortality rate?
Visit by extraterrestrials in search of padkos?

It could have been the motherboard itself. I had a similar issue and turned out it was the motherboard, fortunately for me it was still under warranty so it got replaced free of charge. Just 1 year shy of a 5 year warranty on an Intel board.

I’m on holiday until January.

Got a few minor bugs to fix, be on standby for support, monitor our servers and check out a few Android players. All in all maybe one days work during December.

So time to find stuff to do…
