I'll initially be focusing on nebulae and galaxies. Other areas to explore are moon, sun, planets and the Milky Way.

Did you know 99%+ of the stars you see are in the Milky Way?
Yes - we are not able to see into other galaxies with the naked eye. At best you can see the combined light of billions of stars in one tiny point.

Under ideal conditions, you can see a fuzzy dot as the Andromeda Galaxy was 2 million years ago. [It's on a collision course with our galaxy, but don't worry, our local star will have consumed its inner satellites by then. [As far as I know]

Photography is like any hobby, the deeper you get the more you can spend.

Right, my first fully kitted target is going to be Caldwell 92.

Winter coming to an end but Caldwell 92 is too low now unless I get up at 4AM. So next target is 47 Tucanae + Small Magellanic Cloud (globular cluster + nebula).
