How do you explain the ultra marathon running then? Or road cycling?

The professional cycling scene definitely is dominated by white people just as for instance Formula 1 is. I don't really think that this has much to do with genetics but just that white people still overwhelmingly dominate the sport in terms of professional participation.

I even once attended a cycling event in late 2017 in the Eastern Cape and I could only count like one black guy who attended.

F1 remains overwhelmingly white but that's not due to genetics or anything. Lewis is the only black guy to have ever raced (and it looks like he will be for a while more) and he has seven WDC's.

I know some don't consider him the best of all-time which is fair enough as it's not accurate to compare different generations but the fact that Lewis has won at least once in every season he has been in F1 means that he is definitely one of the best, if not the best and even his biggest detractors (I see many on Mybb) have to admit that.

F1 is still heavily dependent on class which rules out the vast majority of people overall and more so black people.

Btw: One of the best BMX cyclists in SA is Sifiso Nhlapo who is originally from Soweto but he is one of the few black people who took up the sport.

Money and opportunity help too.

SEE: Earl Woods, Richard Williams and Oracene Price.

Lewis is a generational talent... I'm a little older and growing up my dad was a fan of two drivers, Jim Clark and Fangio. That left a life-long impression on me. The two of them will always be my GOATs, but that's purely an emotional call. You can't argue that Lewis doesn't belong in the discussion with them and Michael and Ayrton because, well, he's just better.

True elitist sports like golf and motor racing are generally dominated by the elites, especially white males from elite families with a few outliers here and there like Tiger Woods and Lewis but that will start to change slowly now that more and more people in the developing world and non-whites in western countries are entering the elite class.

A sport like soccer and cricket to a lesser context is less classicist though they too have its barriers overall there is no race or ethnicity that outright dominates them.

Still quite complex.

Black people, like white people are not a monolith and made up of several different ethnicities. Some ethnicities within black people may have better endurance to long distance (Kenyans and Ethiopians) running but that will not hold true for black people as a whole.

Black South African's and black Ethiopians are so different that we could say that they are entirely different race groups, as Ethiopians look closer to Indians and coloreds in a South African context, this is why we say that race is not a scientifically valid concept.
Thank you for typing it out. I just didn't have the stamina

Why are people so obsessed with the colour of their skin. For me its more of a cultural thing than a race thing, I really do hope this hate for your fellow man based on the colour of their skin dies with the older generation, sorry if it sounds harsh.

What ? Smoking dope ?

Nah, smoking dope is your prejudice showing itself again.

Conditioning, you know, like a professional rugby player doing contact training so they don’t get broken in two when they take a tackle… unlike folks who spend the day staring at a monitor who would end up in intensive care.

You spend all day doing a specific physical task, your body gets… conditioned… to do that task.

But I get it.

Much easier to make a blanket statement about committing what in many places is still a crime to ascribe a group’s ability to do their job, rather than acknowledging that every human has the innate ability to get physically conditioned to do the thing they do all day.

You see Greg that is becasue you are a well rounded person who can acknowledge that yes maybe us as people have inherent biases, but you know that people are more complex than that.

Other peoples level only can acknowledge superficial things and need made up constructs to make themselves appear more than what they are.

I get it. Like you're conditioned to be a poes.

Now if you can take your finger out your ass, read this:

When i worked underground the smell of dagga was all over. One of my assistants (Called a helper back then) used to tell me every morning
when we got to our workshop that he's going to "take a stroll". That's him going to smoke a joint. He'll return in about 20 min and work like a machine untill time to catch the cage going to surface. This was a daily routine.

I get it. Personal attacks are the refuge of folks who have no counterpoint in a debate.

Also, your anecdote isn't evidence.

Have you worked underground ? I guess not. So that makes you incompetent on the subject.

You’re just showing your bias again, by your anecdotal evidence it should then be possible to take a fat black 20 year old university student who hasn’t done any manual labour in his life and just by allowing him to smoke dagga for 20 minutes he will suddenly be able to dig and operate heavy manual machinery underground in a mine for 8 hours without a break.

Is that what you’re trying to say?

If you're touchy about me saying you have conscious and unconscious biases, it says more about the validity and fragility of those biases than me pointing them out in the first place.

Come on then, you’re the self professed expert.

Answer my question, that fat black 20 year old university student will work like a machine for 8 hours 1km underground without a break after 20 minutes of dagga smoking?

Yes? No?

and because he’s black that fat black student will be a better miner than any of these guys?

Looks like @TabacNW now realises he was being racist with his stereotypical generalisations and is not going to debate any further (maybe feeling embarrassed?).

He was reading the thread 30 minutes ago and then left without commenting or answering any further.

Several users have got the impression that you are racist, surely they can't all be wrong?
Depends on the users.... some black and coloured beggers call you racist for not "donating" to their drinking funds...... many users here are no different only here the donation is agreement with their ideology.
