The Western Cape is rallying hard to avoid a harder lockdown as the COVID-19 infection rate continues to climb. Nearing 17,000 active cases, the infection rate in the province is now similar to that at the height of the pandemic in early July.

Premier Alan Winde says he has submitted an extensive plan to President Cyril Ramaphosa to mitigate the situation.

He’s calling for more stringent enforcement measures.
Several private hospitals are also reaching full capacity.

It's a good thing he doesn't seem to mix religion with law...

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has prayed that any Covid-19 vaccine "of the devil" be destroyed.

"I lock out any vaccine that is not of you," he said on Thursday, during a closing prayer.

"If there be any vaccine that is of the devil, meant to infuse triple-six in the lives of people, meant to corrupt their DNA, any such vaccine, Lord God Almighty, may it be destroyed by fire, in the name of Jesus."

Sounds about right though the alcohol sale ban will be announced on a Sunday evening to stop a run on bottle stores. So likely to start on the 21st.

Also heard from an acquaintance in the logistics industry today that they expect to stop transporting alcohol from Tuesday

I'm starting to think the second wave is going to be much worse than the first in SA. I needed new masks so went with the top rated FFP3/N99. Known brand with proper testing and certification, not Chinese fakes.
