My Security Manager often talks about his border days! The old Bastard is half deaf as they drove their Buffel over a landmine in Kaokaland.....

Anyone who served in the old SADF care to comment on what's happening in this photo?
I did my army stint July 1981 to June 1983. I was at a few infantry bases and a platoon commander my last year. I also did 10 camps after finishing my two years. I have never experienced anything like this, it probably was an isolated incident of some sort, probably an opfok of some kind.

Bejasus that brings back memories. Drinking mud. Uuuuuurgh.

Pappa Smurf we had the Ratel Flashes on our step outs. Browns had a red and yellow flash with a lightning bolt on it. Unfortunately I have lost all the stuff I had and my pronoutro thingy.

I still see Alex M around he got a medal I think the second highest for bravery in combat.
Batshit crazy times.

My ex neighbour here was in the Police, told me a few harrowing tales over the midnight coals, awesome guys, but as with many okes up this end of the world had demons.

He was also up in the Joburg townships......around the mid 80's or so....
