Amazing the effort they put in.
She would read a chapter each night to each of us without fail. "The Magic Faraway Tree", "The Stream That Stood Still", Greek mythology, Tolkien... many more.

I tried with my children but both of them only wanted short stories, was a bit disappointed.

Books by Bill Peet, Captain Pugwash, Mr Men, Gumdrop. Then I learned to read.
