So are these the areas that government are pumping in extra hospital beds, money and resources to help us through this?

They dismantled the convention centre overflow facility iirc.

Indeed. And now it’s more important to spend billions on SAA bailout rather than expedite the vaccine which is coming in the 2nd quarter.

We’re fucked.

And just so we don’t only blame the government, even though they are wholly incompetent, this was Onrus beach when I drove past on Saturday.

The R250m odd Covac deposit was paid from the Solidarity fund. Ruperts and Oppenheimers donated a billion rand each.

Looks like the kitty is nearly empty:

Just went to fetch the bin and two groups walked past maskless. Can't really blame them, there is noone near them and the wind is blowing. But it is technically public space. If you bend the rules to suite you then everyone will. Let's see how the cops deal with this...

There are doctors in KZN asking for a harder lockdown. Mentioning people who contracted the virus beginning of lockdown are showing up with symptoms again and testing positive.

Bottom line is we just can't afford a lockdown where businesses close. The country's economy will be destroyed and people will be out on the street if we ever go into that kind of lockdown again.

People and businesses are going to get hurt. It's a classical "casualties of war" scenario. There's no way out of this accept to vaccinate everybody. The best we can do is damage control.

My brother sent me this photograph of Kidd's Beach near East London. I wonder what Gonubie, Beacon Bay, Nahoon, Eastern, and Orient Beaches look like?

What the heck man, the cops in Joburg are patrolling the streets and venues as if ISIS just set off bombs.

If they put this much effort into their actual jobs as they do policing mask wearing and 9pm curfew maybe crime would come down a little.

But no, once level 3 is reduced we will go back to lazy ass cops that don't give a crap.
