So tempted to get a girl. My two boys are now closing in on 10. The one has been masturbating (vets don't believe me) since he was six months but that seems to be coming to an end with his middle age. Until now I was afraid he might try to mate with a female even though he's been neutered.

I have 3 boys that does that.. they start with the fluffy blanky and the move on to my calve.. i get humped on a regular basis..
i have video evidence... my oldest boy who passed away would lick it till the pink comes out ( oversharing) and all my pers are neutered. The boys sometimes try to hump the kittens ( any sex) but everyone just gets confused and walks away..

@Mila, do you think cats like human opposite sexes more? I.e. our male cats preferred to sleep with my female housemate. Our only female was bonded with me and slept with me.

I would tend to agree..
Boys are more loveable than girls but all the girls in my house prefer Mr mila.
we have this year added two special needs females to the family. I love them so much. Cared for them. .. they treat me like the slave. Good for food ..

The boys also love Mr Mila bit the girls adore him. Even when we foster he will be on the couch and the girls will be around him.

Boys accept kittens much easier as well. Female cats don’t go all motherly. They tend to hate kittens. My boys are all good with most of the fosters. They end up bathing them and playing with them.

I've never adopted an older cat. Is it difficult to get them to adjust with existing inhabitants?

When you're old and senile, you fall asleep in the weirdest positions and places

Lol, I expected as much. Nice to know you've also experienced it.

So want to get a girl, they like to be lap cats... ;)
Not really. I had a female stray bond with me and she would even come into my room. I guess every cat is different. We had a male kitten and he loved my mom more than anyone else but he'd always prank on me or anyone else for that matter. My mom wanted me to take George because the other two cats didnt like him but he didn't want to stay with me and came back to my mom (I lived down the road at that time). His attitude said if the other cats don't like him, so what? He'll be friends with the dogs and he was good friends with the dogs - always rough-housing and tumbling with them and he grew up with a puppy so basically thought he was a dog anyway - he never liked sleeping in a cat bed, he was always sleeping on the stairs or on the carpet floor - took my mom a long time to convince him he was allowed to sit on the couch whenever he wanted (I think it took him around 5 years before he eventually got on that couch).
