Got to be kidding me. A goddam year?! This system was ready to launch, there is no reason to delay this a year.

The system that is supposed to put an end to rogue debit orders, typically in the form of automatic payments worth R99 each, must be delayed by another year, the SA Reserve Bank said on Tuesday.

The novel coronavirus means a May deadline on authenticated debit orders, via DebiCheck, will now be extended to 2021, the Reserve Bank says – leaving the door open for rogue debits.
