Barcelona MotoGP: Oliveira holds on to score KTM's first 2021 win
KTM struggled in the early races of 2021, but a chassis update and new fuel supplier propelled the Austrian marque back to frontrunning status over the last two grands prix – Oliveira claiming his first win as a factory team KTM rider.
Sachsenring: a blank slate, or the return of the King?
After a dramatic Catalan GP, Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland beckons for the first race weekend in another back-to-back for the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship. The tight and twisty venue is a different challenge from most, and traditionally there has been a single King of the Sachsenring: Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). With seven wins from seven in his time in MotoGP™ – and a few before that too – the number 93 has been almost unassailable at the track, but this time he arrives on the comeback from injury and the flashes of brilliance so far have been very much accompanied by some struggles for the eight-time World Champion. “Like the old Marc,” was his review of the laps he completed in Barcelona though, and on Monday in the post-race test he did more laps than anyone. So is it too soon to expect the King to return to the throne?
German MotoGP: Marquez seals emotional first win since injury comeback
Honda’s Marc Marquez beat Miguel Oliveira in a tense German Grand Prix to seal a stunning comeback MotoGP victory following the career-threatening arm injury which ruled him out of 2020.
Definitely Team KTM, but I can't imagine anyone being really upset with Marc's win.
Man, this was in Feb...
Yup.It was quite impressive as it also came off what 3 DNF's which would dent anyone's confidence.
Yup.
Really pleased for him. The layout of the Sachsenring helped, and he'll still struggle at other tracks for a while, but MotoGP with Marc is just better MotoGP.
Other teams seemed to catch up with Honda while he was out, and I'm really hoping for some Marc/Fabio/Miguel/Brad/Jack/Joan throw-downs for the rest of the season
100%, and Johann either.Yeah the KTM's seem to be coming good with Miguel really showing his talent, Brad just needs to qualify better and will be in podium spots.
I wouldn't discount Pecco either from that group.
100%, and Johann either.
Thirteenth to fourth on a track he didn't know was some ride from Brad and I'm sure he would have been on the podium from a better grid position. Not sure anyone would have beaten Marc 'tho. He won the race the moment everyone except him was unsure about the rain.
Assen this weekend and then an eternity waiting for the double-header at the Red Bull Ring... Lord knows, I love Assen.
To ease the July craving...Yeah that July break is going to be long one. But hopefully second half of the season is as exciting as the first.
To ease the July craving...
The format can be confusing.I haven't been able to get into SBK yet, but will give it a go to fill the gap.
