The endangered Crested Ibis (Nipponia nippon) in China by jxjinjin. https://www.instagram.com/jxjinjin/. Despite its Latin name the last wild Crested Ibis in Japan died in October 2003, with the remaining wild population found only in Shaanxi Province of China, until the reintroduction of captive bred birds back into Japan in 2008.

One of my dogs tried this (cheetahs don't really have claws like most cats, their claws are similar to dogs)

She was chasing a squirrel and she got nearly 3m up

Then she fell. But pretty impressive to climb a straight up pine tree to well above my head height.

She's climbed another tree, also in pursuit of squirrels but it was a milkwood, so plenty of branches. Even that surprised me.

Raffelasia, the world's largest flower. It strongly smells like rotting meat. Around 1m diameter.

I was lucky enough to find one on Java, in the jungle. Their habitat is mostly in Sumatra.

Curiously, the smell is likened to a dead donkey, but in both trips to Indonesia, I never saw a donkey.

Useless extra fact: in the same nature reserve I also saw jungle fowl in the wild, these were domesticated and are what we now know as "chickens"
