  • DA federal chairperson Helen Zille on Sunday said there are more racist laws today than under apartheid.
  • Constitutional law experts, however, said apartheid laws existed to exploit black South Africans, while race-based laws today seek to undo the legacy of apartheid.
  • All South African legislation also has to ascribe to the Constitution which prohibits discrimination unless to improve equality.
DA federal chairperson Helen Zille sparked a Twitter debate on Sunday when she tweeted that South Africa now has more racist laws than under apartheid.

Zille's comments followed after the DA lost a court bid to force the state to stop using Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEEE) status, race, gender, age or disability when considering who gets Covid-19 aid.

then list them helen, dont just shoot from the hip.

their reasoning for racist laws today is bullshit

Constitutional law experts, and a Nelson Mandela Foundation researcher, however, said apartheid legislation cannot be compared to democratic-era legislation as the former was designed to exclude, exploit and oppress the majority.

and now its used for those things against a minority.

Even if there were fewer racist laws, they were a little more racist.... quantity vs. quality Helen, don't be the white Malema... these are his games, spewing controversial opinions for media attention.
