102 years ago today, on 8th August 1918, the Japanese Consulate in Cape Town opened its doors. The original office was set up at the wedge-shaped landmark of the Jameson Watson building at the mouth of Adderley Street (picture) where Japan’s first diplomatic presence on the African continent was established.
