Finally some movement on the bike repair.
after lots of fighting miWay is paying out rather than writing off. that should clear in my account tommorow or saturday morning.
After taking off some cosmetic repairs I have the quote down to something more affordable. also took off some things that I will just replace myself, like the mirrors. I will just get a set off takealot. looking at some cool skeleton hand ones.
and I found a helmet I really like that has a perfect safety rating by the brits. its modular so getting 5 stars by SHARP on modular helmets is rare. but I prefer it. and its actually cheaper than my last helmet, no idea why.
so now its just see how long the repair will take, order the new helmet and go buy new gloves.
jacket is fine, easy over pants are fine and boots are fine.
but so far that cunt in the fortuner has cost me R5000 between the accident and now (Uber costs, doctors check up and medicine to treat the wounds)
then its going to still cost another R7K for helmet gloves, mirrors and an air box cover that is coming out of my pocket not the insurance.
and then I am moving insurance from a direct line with miWay to a broker based one with Santam.
Direct insurance = low premium high excess (its litrally the business model of how they compete with each other)
Broker = higher premium and fixed excess (broker has relationship so claim risk is lower with a lower policy cancelation rate so excess cost can be a fixed amount)
feels obvious to think about now but I never considered it
