Not very, since pain doesn't matter, and flamethrower's main things are deterrent/fear factor, burn down cover, etc., which don't apply to zombies.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I expected the fire to destroy them in large numbers, but it sounds as though it would not be quick enough to save the living.

What do you think would be a good way way of destroying a mass of zombies quickly?
