A Taste of Belgium is our annual event where the members of the BCCSA showcase their products and services, and this for the 11th year in a row.
The event takes the form of a fair where Belgian know-how and culinary artistry are displayed for the eyes and mouths of local residents.
After a successful Francophonie market earlier in the year, food and craft vendors of the DRC will be present as well.
40 to 50 traders are to be expected at this stage.
This year, we have a LIVE performance by N8N & his Starlight Quartet, known from Tomorrowland and, more locally, from the Athletic Club and Social.
This is followed by a performance by Sylvestre Kabassidi, the singing storyteller from the DRC.
You can find us at the familiar and much-loved venue at the foot of Table Mountain in Newlands: in the Belgian Residence at 29 Boshof Avenue.
In the large garden, food & drinks will be available, craft work, kids’ activities, a small Travel Indaba (Belgian hospitality in SA), Dj Radio Belgium, and much more.
Several members of Belgica and the BCCSA are clearing their cupboards, storerooms and garages of any redundant items (excluding clothes and shoes) and use the opportunity of the festival to offer these second-hand items for sale to the public at the ‘Rommelmarkt’.
Parking will be available in the area, more formalised and better organized than last year to avoid frustrations. However, we urge everyone to drink responsibly and use UBER.
Venue:
*Residence of the Belgian Ambassador
Organisers:
*Belgian Chamber of Commerce for Southern Africa in Cape Town
*Consulate-General of Belgium in South Africa
Sponsors:
*Lotus Bakeries: speculoos biscuits and biscoff spread
*Air Belgium: direct flights between CT, Jhb & Brussels - #FlyBelgianClass
*AB InBev
Supported by:
*AWEX (The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency: government agency in charge of foreign trade promotion and foreign investment attraction) &
*WBi (the organisation in charge of international relations for the Wallonia region, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the French Community Commission of the Brussels-Capital Region )
*FIT (Flanders Investment & Trade) & *Diplomatiek Vertegenwoordiger van Vlaanderen in zuidelijk Afrika
Music:
*N8N (Nathan) & his Starlight Quartet – known from Tomorrowland &
*The Athletic Club & Social
*Sylvestre Kabassidi - the singing storyteller from the DRC to Cape Town

Join us SUNDAY, 6th AUGUST 2023, at The Range, Tokai as we collab with The Thrift Fest to bring you another ULTIMATE sustainable market experience 💚
Get your groceries, good food, drinks as well as home and body products from a wonderful variety of small businesses that are excited to share their cruelty-free products and services with YOU. Then when you thought the sustainable experience was over, you pop over to the log cabin to shop from a curated selection of goods (thrift and hand made) right next door to our market!
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU EXPECT?:
🌱 A WIDE variety of delicious vegan food & beverages (sweet AND savory).
🌱Local, handcrafted & cruelty-free home & body products.
🌱 Lots of shade and seating.
🌱Ample parking facilities.
🌱 Play stations and games for the kiddies - all supervised.
🌱A bar with vegan-friendly wines and beers.
🌱 Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards.
🌱 Animal adoption + fostering opportunities.
🌱 Last but not least, ALL THE GOOD VAAAAARBZZZ ☺️
DOGGIES AT THE MARKET:
We love having the doggies at our space, but we ask that you please keep your dog on a leash and outside the main market marquee as they need to be kept away from food, fresh produce, plants and other home & body products. We always suggest bringing a buddy who can sit/walk with your doggie while you browse and vice versa.
The market has always been a safe space for many of us. We want to make sure that it continues to be a safe space for everyone 🤗🌸🌱
