I think it is ok to be used as a weeding out guide, but they really are the three blind mice.
They only seem to focus on the cosmetic and roadworthy stuff (which I suppose is important) and don't seem to notice or just gloss over, IMO at least, some of the more serious issues.
This is only based on what I saw at We Buy Cars so perhaps the independent branches are different.
