I am currently reading a book written by a psychopath about her life. I am too empathetic to be a psychopath. Not always when it comes to people - but definitely where animals and children are concerned. To see them in distress upsets me. I am able to distance myself from nature though. I can watch a snake eat a rat. Everything needs to live - and that snake has as much right to a meal as the rat does. But if a human were to torture an animal - I would happily watch the same being done to the human. I might even give the punishment myself. I think that is just systemic of the world we live in.
