Low wind speeds were to blame for pushing wholesale energy prices for the peak period between 5pm and 6pm over £2,000 per megawatt hour, only the second time they have surpassed this level since 2018.

If you want a renewable future, you need 5 x the demand installed of solar/wind, PLUS 4 x the demand installed of battery storage, so 9 x the demand in total AND you still need a flexible base load of gas that matches demand but follows the peaks and lows automatically.

Nah man. Renewables will work, we just need to install and absolute fucking shit load of them. And gas will be replaced by hydrogen or amonia or suck a thing that is free from harmful emissions.

Pretty sure we can build a nuclear reactor a lot quicker than we can build the equivalent of 9x its capacity in windmills
