If ne'er-do-wells did not help themselves to your butter...
ye that would be a problem nowadays - teenagers up to no good, vandalising, stealing cars, etc... Granted the crime here isn't half as bad as it is in South Africa - I can say with confidence that we do not have electric fencing everywhere. Neighbours are right next to you, always helping you out and etc... Unfortunately, in this country, the kids just get away with it and do what they like - half of the time the parents don't know what their kids are doing and then the police must get involved when it's crossing a line (like I said, sadly most of the kids get away with it).

More snow fell last night after mostly thawing out yesterday.

Now that's a real shame. Loss of employment in such a case is not a joke.

Do they know what caused the fire? (arson, electrical fault etc)
I think they have insurance to cover for that - it's a chain store, mostly convenient stores that are open from 6am to 10pm.

Still don't know as it's never made to the local news - a guy who runs a small online news outlet wrote the story but that's it, nothing else. I'll message him and ask if there's been an update as of yet. The fire station and police have to investigate for insurance purposes.
