She is starting an online shop that sells bric-à-brac, jewelry and clothing with a vintage & decor angle. The name is Welgevonden Vintage & Decor. She is trying to create a happy escapist vibe. Which of these three logos do you like?

To be honest the first two look very busy, the first one reminds me of the old redbull themed ads. The last one seems like it was just copied and pasted there but the actual mermaid design is headed in the right direction.

Maybe just have the mermaid on her own, if you send me the logo I can show you what I mean. Just my two cents.

Here's the first one un-resized attached.

The third looks stylish. It represents what the company is about. :)

* disclaimer: I am a software developer, not a graphic designer.

None of these are going to scale well onto business card/letterhead/email sig size, partly due to the tiny font size used in the subtitles. Number 1 probably has the best bet, due to high contrast. Possibly number 2, but then you have an awkward light/dark that needs to balanced by other elements added to the card/letterhead/sig

#3 puts too much emphasis on the text, rather than the whimsical element. It looks to me to be more suited to a gated residential suburb..

#2 too much contrast between the two sides. One is too heavy, the other light. It's going to be hard to reconcile that in further design. Very hard to render in black & white. The cloud breaking the slanted separation line between the dark/light side is problematic.

#1 is my favourite, it places the mermaid as the focus of the logo and as such creates the possibility of using only the mermaid on smaller formats. The text is clear and legible. The format works in color and black & white.

So, take my opinion with a pinch of salt, but it is what it is.

When I look quickly at them without thinking:
1) Make me think of a kids bedroom wall paper, and not a shop at all.
2) I like blue A LOT, but I would think this is a place that specialise in new baby room decor.
3) Make me think of Vintage / a place where I would get Biggie Best material and furniture.

As Y2K said, don't overcomplicate the logo, and the mermaid logo has nothing to do with vintage and decor, so not really valid.
I'd also be careful with the name Welgevonden unless your target market is Afrikaans.

The mermaid can't be used unless you're a really old restaurant or something from early 1900's, else it's just too old and won't work well if you're targeting decor, would state that you're old/out of touch.

The second image is the least busy, so would go with that of the 2, but wouldn't pick any of them. Don't think the font choices are that great either.
I like Y2K's post above me the most, clean and will look good on a business card, the more artsy/drawn look of the sans serif font is good and indicates styling, while the bolder serif title font does well for permanence.
