Renaldo is a populist and his views follow the direction of the DA. Under the Zille/Maimane leadership, he tried to be centre-left on most issues, i.e he claimed to support AA and said farm murders should not be prioritized due to the prevalence of murder as a whole in SA.
He still claims to be centre-left but its now evident that he is now firmly right-wing. He even hosted Steve Hofmeyr a few months and said he does not believe Hofmeyr is a racist. There are few who legitimately believe Hofmeyr is not a racist, even some of his own fans concede that he is. He now believes farm murders should be prioritized and does not believe in AA.
He is also quick to report on and condemn black-on-white racist incidents in the strongest terms but then usually downplays white-on-black racist incidents.
He also deleted his older videos from the early part of the 10's where he said borderline racist and homophobic things from his Rendier days.
His fans will likely drown you out. Most seem to have supported Trump in the US election so that's the type of people he attracts. Renaldo also said he does not support Trump but said many positive things about Trump without really saying anything positive about Biden.
NoCan businesses claim the costs associated with the name change as a tax deduction?
Can you actually say anything positive about Biden? He is a liar after all.
He is better than Trump, but so is a snake.

He has his flaws but is certainly a better pick than Trump. The right-wingers tend to love Trump and their love of him seems to grow when he makes a controversial statement, particularly aimed at minority groups in the US context.

A heads up - if you want to do anything about it keep in mind that the Act requires the Minister to personally respond to objections received within a month of the gazette - the Minister wont, he didn't respond to the hundreds of objections to Grahamstown but its important for the inevitable litigation. If there is somebody with some web fu skills and a happiness to host setting up a sending and logging mechanism that will allow people to express their objections and make it easy to document the failure to respond.
There's already platforms for that. Wasn't dear south Africa one of them?
Aware of a couple of petition management platforms. What I need here is a little more specific at least in terms of monitoring feedback or more importantly its absence.

The timing of the Grahamstown name change was not good but there is heavy racism there in the suburbs as a lot of the residents there now are older folks who mainly grew up in Apartheid. Even if you go on the Grahamstown group on Facebook, there are Apartheid apologists there. In a way, I was happy to see them getting a taste of their own medicine.
Rhodes University is definitely a left wing environment which often leads to the misconception that Grahamstown is. On the contrary, Grahamstown is a very conservative community.

The Grahamstown name change process was redone at least 3 times - each time because of a lack of community support for a change. Most tellingly was a section the residents of elderly residents in Fingo Village who the most vocal.
While there certainly is a racist fringe on the town the objections to the name change process is not dominated by racists - the people behind Keep Grahamstown Grahamstown are most certainly not - and it is a wonderfully grotesque allegation made by deeply racist members of the ANC as an act of deflection.
The bigger problem here is the dishonesty in the committee around applicants and ultimately Nathi is a corrupt hold over from the Zuma capture project.
