Does this forum tolerate racism?

Many on Mybb defend Apartheid (people actually defend Etienne Marais and his threads which try to re-write history and present Apartheid positively) and I'm inclined to believe some of the older folks supported it, many on the SADF thread still say they are proud to have been part of it but don't want to discuss the uglier side of the SADF. Some exploited innocent people on the street, others impregnated women in the townships they worked in and some ex- SADF people have come clean on this but it appears they want a fantasy thread where everything the SADF did was good.

They are revelling in those 80’s dreams now, pretending nothing that was done was bad or discriminatory. And then going further pretending the white super soldiers of the SADF were infallible and unbeatable and their non-white opponents were absolutely useless and stupid.

Some white ex-SADF soldiers have spoken out against the abuse that used to happen in the SADF camps (I even have a co-worker who admitted to me that it happened) but the usual response from those folks is to personally attack those individuals saying that they are lying and or leftist attention seekers. Some of them I imagine must be living by the "what happens in the camp stays in the camp" rule and so don't want to say what happened.

Considering the racism at the time, I also think that their claim that the black SADF soldiers were treated as equals is most probably a lie.

I don't buy that. There are a fair share of ex-SADF soldiers and even former Apartheid supporters who have since discovered that they were brainwashed and that their systems were BS.

I do understand that many of them must have had no choice but to join the military but many of them will still justify some of the horrible things that the apartheid government did and seem to be somewhat sympathetic to white nationalists. Steve Hofmeyr has a lot of fans there.

I've also noticed a difference in aggression in the comments section if the perpetrator of a crime is black and white.

If it's a black person, they sometimes even get associated with political parties that they probably are not even members of but don't you dare bring up the DA or VF+, prepare for an attack if you do.

Typically, the comments like "lock him up" "" the ANC are doing this" are not there if the perpetrator is white.

Also, notice difference in the comments section when the lives of white vs black poor people are reported. When the person is black, they blame them for their own problems, saying things like "that's what you get for voting ANC" or "for having so many children". We know the implicit racism is there.

If its white people, they are suddenly understanding and have empathy.

He’s been schooled many times (even on his perennial favourite of the SADF) when he gets caught out talking crap, it doesn’t stop him professing to being an expert on whatever the next subject mentioned is.

Speaking of law, one of his earliest was his “Master Mariner” thesis in which merchant ships are prohibited under commercial law from carrying any form of weapons. Even after being shown verifiable proof he was talking shit he continued to spout about it.

That was followed up with a real gem, that he was on a ship and the Nigerian Navy threatened to shoot any passengers who went on deck when the ship was being escorted through Nigerian waters and that shooting would be legal under international law.

It is interesting that people think the left are mistreated on MyBB, when almost all the banning/suspension/infractions have been of the far right.

In fact, many on the far right also complain that they are unfairly targeted (Gnarles is particularly aggrieved)

It is worth examining your own Overton window. It is natural that people consider their "own" side to be under closer mod supervision, because you notice your "own" side more than you monitor the "other" side.

You need to try to view the subject objectively. MyBB has a right slant, but in fact the majority of bannings/unexpected absences and people who leave are amongst the right wing. I can think of SoldierMan, DavidFreeman, CaptainOblivious et al, vs... Excalibur. Who else on the left has been temp or perma-banned, or left of their own accord?

I don't think the banning happen according to a side I have started to suspect its a bias thing I have been banned for dumb shit yet, others can say awful shit and troll with impunity yet nothing happens. Its more of case of we are equal some are more equal than others.
