Can it be done with existing glass?

Comment from someone I know that had it done:

Ordered from glazier and gave them the template. You need to use laminate or shatterproof glass.

Meh, glass company says they have to replace the entire pane.

Glass place came to measure today. So apparently after cutting the hole the new pane goes through another hardening process.

I prefer this method:

When I leave my home the cats stay inside (when I lived in a house).

I need to be able to switch the alarm on so that won't work. Every single door and window is glass, no chance of cutting a hole in a wooden door like I always did. The new place is kinda larney... ;)
