Imagine what the stats would look like without development of effective vaccines.

Much the same I would guess
Highly doubt it, there's an over 30% vaccination rate, about half the population is under 25, and near 70% under 35. Your hospital stats etc. would be way higher, and vaccination reduces transmission rate since shorter period of being infectious.

Or it would just have run through the population at a quicker rate pushing up the natural immune response and impeding further spread that way. We'd possibly have lost more people at the start but 2 years after the fact I still maintain we'd be in much the same position.

I'm not against the vaccines, been done myself and will still get the booster. I just don't see them as the miracle end to this situation they are made out to be.

Guess we’ll never know.

No, South Africa was slow to vaccinate, and vaccine is also a natural immune response, that phrase is just stupid. And those who are msot likely to have vaccinated are those who were most likely to get ill/die from covid, death rate would have been higher than it is now.

Didn't say they were a miracle, just saying that it did have a discernible impact, e.g. here in Austria the studies are something like 60% of those who end up in hospital are unvaccinated, this with a population where there's a near 80% vaccination rate at 18+, especially at the older age groups.
