Any bets on what our government is going to do?

I honestly expect Cyril to pop in again on Sunday night and move us up a level or 2,especially in Gauteng. Think the booze ban is still a bit away but it's coming. Shocker will be if inter-provincial travel is stopped again, I kinda feel the realize they'll kill off the country by doing that after the international cancelations.

Further afield I find it very disheartening that international travel is fekked. Resigning myself to the idea that it's going to take a month or 2 before things open again and then most likely with stupid restrictions. Was looking at going skiing in March but I guess that gets kicked out to December 2022 again at the earliest
I know its not ideal, but have you been to Tiffindell?

Yes, but that really work as a December holiday :) and I like going to the bush in the SA winter.

I've also been skiing in Europe with family every other year since I was about 10ish so there is an emotional connection with the trip as well.

My sister and one of her sons now have covid. They are luckily vaccinated. Says it's like a bad flu. Holding thumbs that my 85 year old mother that lives with them don't get it even though she is vaccinated.

Mmm not sure xmas is still on this year...

Son went to student party on last week Wednesday and symptoms started Friday. Now most of those students have it incl a bunch of foreign students (it was a going away party).

Hitting close to home...

Plett Rage cancelled

The Plett Rage festival has been cancelled.

Organisers said on Thursday that the alarming number of positive cases were being reported to them by customers from their hometown, due to them being required to take the mandatory PCR beforehand.

"Almost all schools set to attend Plett Rage have positive cases. Based on the trajectory of this virus, this is only a tiny percentage of what we are now certain will show up. The numbers are only going to increase rapidly," they said.

"Although we, as organisers, have implemented the most stringent Covid-19 preventive measures, there was no way to preempt the devastation that the current surge of Covid-19 cases nationally would cause."

On Tuesday, it was announced that the Ballito Rage festival had been cancelled after 36 people tested positive for Covid-19.

I hope they recover soon, and that it isn't transmitted to your mother.

I credited students with more brains than that.

Students: Capable of mastering what they need to know to earn their degrees, lack the sense to avoid infection by harmful micro-organisms.

Couple of friends had Covid, they were perfectly fine except for the typical symptoms, and had no tags.

That number of tests figure though, nearly 20 million.
Got me thinking, 20 million tests @ R500 for an average (the ones I had to pay for cost about R800, I think) is R10 billion...

I can perhaps try and answer that for them, my guess would be for profit?

They sneakily don't give us a clue as to what the base cost of running a test is, so it's difficult to gauge if they are profiteering, but I would hazard that they have very big smiles going to work each morning.
