My brother and his wife have covid now and they were careful. I wonder how many people in his audience are going to be ill soon?!
In case you missed it. A friend of mine who is fit and more than 10 years younger than me and was vaccinated, just had Covid. He is back at work now (weeks later), but is still suffering after effects.

I had missed it. Sorry to hear that. I have heard that many people suffer after-effects for a long time. I am hoping they don't. He is just a little younger than I am and she is older. He often gets weird things going around - landed up in ICU a few years ago for a rare bug that was doing the rounds. I have asked them to be paranoid when it comes to their symptoms and rather look foolish when getting help than leave things and suffer worse consequences. I had to be diplomatic as he would not appreciate me saying "Please don't die". Some people really have trouble with the concept of being nonpermanent.

I just spoke to him now. He said he is 100% again, and it took 4 weeks to recover from Covid.

Colleague still under sedation, no improvement in respect of tear, the septic shock seems to be under control but he has now developed an arrhythmia

And he's a doctor, right? Is he a practicing GP, probably got it there?

He got the J&J iirc? It seems to be less effective than Pfizer.

His partner is a GP and he is a doctor practicing in Anti-Ageing, Aesthetic and Functional & Integrative Medicine (so he doesn't deal directly with ill patients).

Thanks, it really sucks. He was the type of guy that always went out to make everything seem better. My desk is full of little gifts he'd organise for his company and then include us for the hell of it.

He sounds like a generous and caring person.

Quite alarming at the rate people are being infected in Gauteng! I buried a mate on Thursday. Mid 40's, slightly over weight and a binge drinker. Diagnosed 3 weeks ago, hospitalized a week later and passed away 2 weeks after that. Leaves behind a wife and 2 teenage sons. The whole family got it. All recovered other than the father. They suspect that the oldest son got it from a close mate who was sent to school despite having "the sniffles".

Got a feeling this 3rd wave is going to eclipse the 1st and 2nd... Theory is the virus is behaving differently, Beta variant (SA variant) is infecting multiple members of a family where in the 1st/2nd waves that wasn't necessarily the case (different variant)? My daughter had the Rona in Jan, neither myself or my wife or a kid who was basically living with us for 3 days and sharing a room with my daughter, got ill.

I think the general consensus is that people are just suffering from fatigue with all the rules and regulations.

We moved back to scheduled attendance at the office after our first positive 3/4 weeks ago and then to work from home a week after that. The positives just keep coming though so people are getting infected outside of the work environment.

Can now count 15 people I know from our company or subsidiaries that have tested positive. In three instances I know the spouse also contracted it, don't know if it was before or after though.
