Sjoe, well, I suppose if 'water burial' is accepted the bodies are going to wash up somewhere.

Also, if you believe that the body is merely a vessel and once the spirit is gone (if you believe in such things) then what's left behind is just meat and bones - it's just the cycle of life that you'd find in any ecosystem. The hygiene aspect is something else though.

They also have other unique ways of disposing of the dead - eg the Parsi's who leave the bodies out for vultures to consume (google: Towers of Silence).

I'm glad I don't live there - a bit fucking grim
