Forget foam, just use a thick paint. 2 coats on the cracked area - which will fill the cracks by being absorbed into the unpainted plaster within the cracks. Once properly dry, give the area a quick light sanding with fine sandpaper. Wipe off dust, then repaint the wall. Quick and easy.
