It has been more than a week now since I had any coffee. I feel better for not drinking the stuff nigh compulsively.
I have read that caffeine causes constriction of blood vessels in the brain, so reduction may well be why I think I am functioning better.
[Not struggling to remember short sequences of numbers in tender numbers, for example. Also getting through work somewhat sooner. Hope the boss doesn't notice that and reduce my work hours!]
It helps with headaches (sometimes).

I was having at least 6 mugs a day, with 3 teaspoons of sugar in each. I don't miss the taste that lingers in my mouth.

The tunnel was named after the French Huguenot refugees that settled in the area in the late 1600s with one of the Huguenot refugees being Francois Du Toit, after whom Du Toitskloof was named.

in general I agree.
makes me appreciate how lucky I am at my current job even more. I get asked for my opinion on code and problems by team members, my boss, and even the solutions architects in other teams all the time.
and my advice gets used every time. and I get thanked for solutions I offer that work well often.

been here a year. still not getting used to it.

So far cheaper than my last move 13 years ago.
Water certificate: R2,726.65 (includes fixing toilet leak and replacing tap cartridge)

Attorneys fees: R22,400.00

is that twenty two rand and forty cents or is that twenty two thousandfour hundred rand and zero cents?
for reference we use coma to indicate thousands and a decimal point to separate rands from cents.
more common practice is just to use a space or nothing.

Though we use R1,234.00 the formal SA rule is a decimal comma. This has been a problem since about Windows 7 I think. In XP and before it was a decimal point.

official standard for South Africa is the same as England and the EU. being R1,234.56

I believe the Germans used it the other way around so R1.234,56 but that has been changed and they are also standard now they are on the Euro might have been the Dutch or the Spanish I cant remember

Americans use a space so R1 234.56 so that is becoming more accepted world wide.
personally I say leave the currency symbol our and leave out spaces and commas as well. that way when I import it there are fewer issues.
and on a related note, remember to always use a Comma in your password because when it eventually gets hacked the CSV will likely be comma delimited so your password will be broken up into two records.

Finally some movement on the bike repair.

after lots of fighting miWay is paying out rather than writing off. that should clear in my account tommorow or saturday morning.
After taking off some cosmetic repairs I have the quote down to something more affordable. also took off some things that I will just replace myself, like the mirrors. I will just get a set off takealot. looking at some cool skeleton hand ones.
and I found a helmet I really like that has a perfect safety rating by the brits. its modular so getting 5 stars by SHARP on modular helmets is rare. but I prefer it. and its actually cheaper than my last helmet, no idea why.
so now its just see how long the repair will take, order the new helmet and go buy new gloves.
jacket is fine, easy over pants are fine and boots are fine.
but so far that cunt in the fortuner has cost me R5000 between the accident and now (Uber costs, doctors check up and medicine to treat the wounds)
then its going to still cost another R7K for helmet gloves, mirrors and an air box cover that is coming out of my pocket not the insurance.
and then I am moving insurance from a direct line with miWay to a broker based one with Santam.

Direct insurance = low premium high excess (its litrally the business model of how they compete with each other)
Broker = higher premium and fixed excess (broker has relationship so claim risk is lower with a lower policy cancelation rate so excess cost can be a fixed amount)
feels obvious to think about now but I never considered it
