One new addition to the Sporting Regulations for 2022 is the rule that mandates the use of rookie drivers on at least two occasions during first free practice this season.I'm obviously out of the loop, why is Perez out?

A rookie driver is defined as someone who “may not have participated in more than two F1 World Championship Races during their career” – meaning there are a few with race experience available for the teams to choose from. But for the majority, there are other clear standout candidates that they have existing links with.
Notice how De Vries beat Latifi...Aah ok, that is a nice idea.
Yes and Kubica over Bottas.Notice how De Vries beat Latifi...

They may use the rookie driver in later events(?).Kubica?
I think something else was going on there. Bottas did only 3 laps....something must have been wrong with the car. Kubica is normally rubbish.Yes and Kubica over Bottas.
To be fair if you want a good chance of finishing a lap you would have to be in front and far away from Latifi...
