    The weight loss/gain thread

Good man. I am looking for an excuse not to join but I can't think of one. I never really weight these days but for some reason did so this morning. So, Day 1 - 102.6kg.

I have no shut down set. I'm not even sure where to set it and if my inverter or battery have such a thing I can't find it. Battery says max DoD is 100% so I guess that is the cut off. (Victron 8kW and 2 x LBSA batteries =10.2kWh). So my tactic is to play with the SoC depending on the load...

Bad timing for me. My sister and BiL are visiting from Scotland and it's been a wild ride that is not coming to and end until middle of next week. So yes and no, I will join you but only when they have gone home :p

Different inverters I guess, but my 2 batteries discharge simultaneously and are always about the same level while doing so. Hopefully it stabilises and these guys know what they are doing. So how’s life “off grid”? Weirdest thing for me was going outside at night and the whole area is pitch...

If I understand what you mean, then that’s when you need to set the SoC to whatever % you fancy and that’s the level that Eskom will charge to if no solar. Solar will charge to 100%, grid will charge to SoC. Mine is set to 35%.

A good example for you is now. We’ve had a heavy evening use so batteries at the moment are sitting at 48% and next loadshedding is scheduled for 4am-6.30am. So at the moment with my SoC set to 40%, my battery will stop discharging in about an hours time when they actually reach that level...

State of Charge. Basically it’s the percentage you want your battery to stop discharging and for your house to use Eskom instead. This is so you have battery available when loadhsedding hits. So for example, mine is set to 40% so that when loadshedding hits and there is no solar supply...

I still check the schedules because I need to change the SoC sometimes when we have a short time between slots. Example on Monday we had 4.5 hours from 10pm to 2.30am, then next slot was 4am to 6.30am. So not a lot of time to get the batteries charged back up and no sun shine, so relying only on...

I've got 2 x LBSA 5.1 kWh batteries. Great batteries, great price and good support form the company. Make sure your installer knows how to set up the BMS with the inverter you have and they will work like a charm ( I've got an 8kW Victron)

I tried a few episodes, couldn't get into it. Currently doing a rewatch of the excellent Happy Valley seasons 1 and 2 while season 3 rolls out over the next few weeks. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3428912/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

It was an arrangement between the installer who is not a qualified electrician, and the electrician who did the CoC for the house last year when we moved in. Getting the electrician to come round was the hard part. Seems to me most installers are not qualified to give a CoC.

Same with my daughter. Her boyfriend had it pretty bad, she had the same symptoms but she kept testing negative.

Yep. Twice, both positive. Pathcare. I'm actually getting my dates mixed up, last few weeks have been a whirlwind. But I was in Finland for a couple of weeks, started feeling shit on the farewell night out on the Friday, spent all day Saturday in bed in hotel, flew back home on Sunday thinking...
