The culture war doesn't care about national boundaries, and America's political system is set up such that it is the avatar of a system grounded in individual justice as opposed to social justice. To favour individual justice is therefore to champion the American dream in some broad fashion.

The culture was is not about privilege, the culture war is about the fact that there's more than one cognitive style of processing information, and the cognitive styles have become arranged in such a way as to treat each other antagonistically.

And anyway, privilege is a loaded term. If I am smarter than most, then I am privileged; does that mean that I am to be held responsible for everybody that's dumber than me? If privilege is automatically something to be ashamed of, then the conversation has already been misframed.

Yes privilege is a loaded term, but context is important and in my situation it’s a label I accept with a smile and a certain amount of humility. I didn’t ask for it but I acknowledge it, and hope I can assist those less privileged by weaponising that acceptance.
