I feel like this was written for @biometrics.

I hope you’ll have the presence of mind to read it start to finish.

Last year, Nigeria ranked third – behind the U.S. and Russia – for crypto trade volumes, generating over $400m worth of transactions.

Like many citizens in developing countries, Nigerians use bitcoin for remittance – sending funds to family members. "

erm....

What's stopping us Grotto members from launching a coin?
Anyone can register a coin on bscscan or etherscan.

Open source codes are available. We just need to find a real case use, like charity, farming, NFT, blockchain development etc

It would be great to get a headstart on Grotto token, before MyBB latch on to the idea.

Nothing stops anyone.

The question is why?

Why don’t you build your own cellphone? Same reason really.

It's more like why don't you setup your own wireless hotspot.

Again, why would you? Assuming you mean why don’t you host your own public wifi network.

If you meant like your personal hotspot off your phone; how is having your own coin even remotely similar when it comes to utility?

No reason to get left behind while there's progress. Companies are already hiring specialised teams to launch coins. PayPal have already created their own tokens, called SafePal (SFP). Lifeline (LLT), a charity organisation, have launched a coin. Many more companies, clubs and organisations will follow.

And those are all organisations and most of them ingrained in financial services so it makes some sense.

Having your own personal coin or a forum coin doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t offer any benefit of utility.

It’s literally just making coins for the sake of making coins.

If you find it too risky buying directly there is an option to use an ETF to track top crypto currencies. :)

On the plus side you don't have to go through the trouble of converting your money into dollars and it will be easy to do your tax returns.
