There was some excitement at work for me today. When I tried to open my work files, Microsoft 365 [formerly Office 365] notified me that it has been deactivated, and that I needed to renew my M365 subscription to carry on working on my file. I emailed tech support and my boss to let them know, and, seeing as there wasn't a spare M365 licence for me, asked whether Open Office [sadly discontinued, I found out] could be installed on the laptop I have been using. I wrote down as many of the column headings in my tender advertisement detail spreadsheet as I could remember with the intent of going through the websites I trawl for tenders and writing down anything of interest to be captured later. I waited for my email to be answered. In the interim, I switched from writing out tender details on paper to typing them into Notepad to be copied and pasted into Excel later. Around 10H00, our tech support guy answered my mail. I sent him my TeamViewer log in name and code so that he could work on my computer remotely. I had to try to explain to him again what my problem was. He could not help me directly, but referred me to another staff member to find out whether any M365 licenses were available. As I remember from our last department meeting, there were no available licenses. Luckily for me, he was able to revoke the license of a staff member who had left. Finally I could get going. 🙂

Kind of why I ditched MS products for Google Docs and Google Sheets. No longer relying on software that needs to be installed and have my PC with more free space.
